In a person with SIADH, hyponatremia occurs. Therefore, the signs and symptoms of SIADH are actually the result of hyponatremia.

Initial symptoms include:
  • thirst
  • dyspnea on exertion
  • fatigue
The patient may also have:
  • muscle cramping
  • pain
  • weakness
  • low urine output
  • weight gain


As sodium levels drop rapidly, symptoms become more severe and include:
  • vomiting
  • abdominal cramps
  • muscle twitching
  • seizures
  • confusion
  • lethargy
  • impaired taste
  • anorexia
  • dulled sensation
  • headache
  • cerebral edema
  • coma
